Finds of the Week

On Wednesday my friend Brady and I went to goodwill to check out what they had for cat related things (well, he went to look at cloths and other crap). While there I found a few wooden cats similar to the one that guards my bathroom (I'll post pics of it later) as well as some intricate ceramic items. Unfortunately they were not that appealing to my taste and/or unrealistically out of my price range. However, I did find another great coffee cup as well as a cute little wooden figurine and a wooden hanging decoration.

Here is the coffee cup of the cat stalking its fellow housemate. Or perhaps he/she is rather watching it, captivated my its flowing motion. My friends mother would call their fish tank the cat television because she would just sit and them for hours. George would probably just eat the fish if we had one. A midnight meal.

I have seen little figurines like this one around all over the place, but they are usually gnomes or bears. I have very happy to find on of a cat. I really enjoy its company as it sits on the desk next to my computer. Complacent. Somewhat startled? What do you think?

I really like this hanging decoration. The first thing that comes to mind when trying to describe it is an oriental wooden wind chime. I love how the colors and spotting on it resemble that of a rainbow trout, or some sort of psychedelic leopard. It is proudly hanging on our front porch.

And that is it for now. I am planning on riding around South East Portland looking for free boxes and taking pictures of neighborhood cats once the weather is nice. If anyone wants to join me, let me know.  Also if you want to show off your cat, send me a picture and I'll post it. Have a good memorial day everyone.

Bad Blogging!

So I realize I am a bad blogger and haven't posted the last two times. Even today is more of a half post I guess. So Mondays I normally post pictures like I did last week (and unfortunately last post) but it was been super rainy this week so I hadn't had the incline to do outside and get my camera wet. So here are a few things to keep you busy until I take some pictures today of my finds, cats, and other things.

Here is a nice video my sister-in-law shared with me today. A nice japanese sing-along about kittens playing with yarn. How adorable.

My friend Nate showed me this bizarre video to me the other week. I am half convinced that this cat is some sort of Borg or alien infiltrating cat society.

And finally here is a link to a website that, if you are anyway like me, you will spend and waste countless minutes on clicking and making designs with the cats. It's quite marvelous, I think.

Meomania

So that's about it for today. Again, sorry about not posting the past week. I am sure the five people that read this are really upset. Yeah......right. Anyways, I will update again soon with more great pictures and what have you. Until then, have fun!

Mondays.....

This weekend has been very nice weather-wise. On Saturday I let my cat outside for a few hours to get some fresh air and exercise. While normally I would let him out for longer, I had to go to my friends house to brew some beer. So about a half hour before I left to meet up with my friends, I began searching around the backyard and neighborhood. Along the way I saw a good handful of the neighborhood cats lounging around in the sun and in the shade of near by bushes. I then realized that George was most likely doing the same thing on someone else's property.  George was eventually found, but along my walk I had brought my camera and had taken some pictures of those pacific cats laying in the balmy spring-time weather. And here they are:

This was the first cat I came across. I get the weird feeling it was rolling it's eyes at me as I pointed my lens at 'em. But then again, cats really are just apathetic about most things.

This cat was on the porch of the house right next to the previous cat. Gorgeous eyes, weathered coat.

This is my favorite cat I came across on my walk. Personally I feel it's the prettiest of the cats I had seen that day. It kind of reminds me of my sister-in-laws cat. And finally....

I barely saw this cat in the corner of my eye whilst walking away from the previous cat. This little guy was curled up and sleeping inside a planting pot that was placed in between two bushes on the side of this persons front stairs. Adorable.

So I got way too drunk last night and forgot to post something for friday. So here is a nice heartwarming story of a kitten named Utopia who gets rescued from the rain on the streets of Shanghai. I am sure a lot of you have seen this before as it has been floating around the internet for a while, but for those who haven't: I hope you enjoy it.

The Story of Utopia

Have a good weekend everyone

Find of the Week

Last summer my roommate came home with a bag full of miscellaneous items he had found. Of these items were a few tea cups and some other junk. A few of those cups had cats on them, but one particular cup stood out from the rest. A beautiful floral cup with four majestic cats lounging about a European countryside. This is is that cup.

Absolutely marvelous isn't it? I personally like chip in it. It gives is a mysterious background story. Anyhow...

Cheers!

Felis Statement

Hello people of the blogosphere! A few days ago I noticed a continuing trend on my Facebook profile. People keep posting cat related websites, pictures, and videos on my wall. At first I didn't think anything of it. These were my good friends who know me well enough to know that I love cats. I think they are the coolest animals ever. It is most fascinating to sit and watch as they go through their daily habits as well as explore new areas of their existence. I am also an artist who spends a good portion of the time I have at hand to paint and draw painting and drawing cats. Drawings and painting mostly depicting our household cat, George. I have even created a Facebook fan page for George, just to give you an understanding on my insanity. But that is somewhat beside the point of my thesis. And this is it: As I have noticed this growing trend on my facebook, as well as the coinciding trend of cats that has slowly been consuming the world wide web, I thought to myself, "I should start a blog that just catalogs all the crap people keep sending me, since so many other people out there also like cats. I could really be a part of this overly saturated market." For a while I was just playing with the idea, I wasn't really sure if I wanted to dedicate time into a blog which, like most blogs, would become dead space. But somehow my roommate, Brady, convinced me. I don't know how, but I guess it was a pretty good idea. The layout of this blog will be pretty simple. Basically, starting tomorrow, I will post pictures, videos, websites and anything else that seems contextual to cats 3 times a week- Monday, Wednesday, Friday. If you have suggestions or links, feel free to e-mail me.
Well, that thesis sucked....

Cheers!

(Just kidding)
